Re: Police camera Van
My brother got done by the same van twice in one day. You really have to watch your speed these days

Re: Police camera Van
If it's a first offence you'll only get 3 points unless you're in a van .

3points £60 fine... I thought it was fairly standard but reading this I feel quite lucky haha

I'm going to have to disagree with you...RobsyUK wrote:If it's a first offence you'll only get 3 points unless you're in a van .
My partners first offence was 73 in a 50... The road had only been 50 for a couple of months and was a dual carradgeway... Resulted in a £70 fine and 2 week ban...
Court said they only let her keep her license because of the kids...
Re: Police camera Van
Just heard on mine....34mph in a 30mph zone, empty road and hidden camera van resulting in 3 points + £100 fine
Could of done driver course but no courses on times I can get to them and still want £90 the robbing c*nts, not going to give up yet and going to fight the conviction as believe their van / camera has to be visable to the driver of the speeding vehicle but going to check as 1 of my friends is a copper and the other an ex high speed response cop.

Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....
Re: Police camera Van
You may be able to testify against that as it's generally 10% +1. Seems really harsh that

Re: Police camera Van
All mobile camera vans are supposed to be in full view of the traffic. Otherwise if they decide to pull out they become an unexpected hazard to other motorists. Same as fixed speed cameras, they have to be in full view and reflective. Fight your case, it may go in your favour.

Re: Police camera Van
Depends again on surroundings... If you do 34 past or near a school zone, regardless of the time of day they will be heavier on you... Not saying it was a school zone, but there are loads of variables...
Also, I have recently seen in the b'town area a new style of camera... The van parks away from the road and they set up a camera on a tripod next to the road... (camera was reflective yellow)

Yes I've seen them on tv years ago but looks like the local force started using them as I haven't seen one about yet.

I believe it's 2-3 weeks, depending on how busy they are.

Re: Police camera Van
I waited about a month for a letter offering me the course, they then wanted me to drive to Basingstoke (about 60 mile) from my home address to attend plus pay them £90...Told them to f*ck off...ashs_cav wrote:Anyone know how long it normally takes for the letter to nkow whats happening to come through?
Asked around and it seems these mobile cameras by law can be placed anywhere and they do NOT need to display signage letting people know they are there as they post to the web every month on camera locations, looking like i am screwed on it this time but hey its 3 points and a £100 fine which still works out cheaper than a 120 mile round trip to listen to some muppet about road safety when I was 1 mph more than the allowed.
No excuse for speeding I know but on a quiet road where Police are known to hide their van behind bushes etc is a joke.

What you actually should have said was:
"Sorry officer, these 8 valvers are too torquey at the low end!!!"
