So I don't get moaned at for duplicating posts....The damage and story of M895 RMJ or Rim job as she was named by Andrei but then we all know he is kinda nutz....lol.....

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=14324

Finally receiver my payout yesterday and plans were put into place to repair and put the car back onto the road asap as can't face having to drive my works Citroen Nemo van for too long as tbh it is cack warmed up!!

Respect to my bosses though who have been really good about my accident and have helped as and where they can..

So payment arrived on 17th January 2015 and I had already contacted breakers all over the country for parts to repair the Cav, most couldn't help or just said they hadn't seen a Cavalier in years which didn't help my mood but phoning the breaker I like to visit in North Dorset Angel Autos aka G Cribb & Sons http://www.gcsaa.co.uk/ he was helpful enough to say he had one but was unsure of its condition so took my email address and sent me pictures of the car in his yard..

Fortunately the car was the right colour so saves me a lot of time and money on respraying and as you'll see from the pics the panels are in pretty good condition considering they were sat in his yard for over a year (we guess from a out of date bag of walkers crisps...lol...)

One Cav minus O/s doors!!

As for the front wing it needs I managed to get that off of Craig "Vaux Mad" Davies off of the Cavmk3oc Facebook page (yes I know people don't like FB so no need to start) for £30 inc postage so in total panels have cost me £120 although I may need a new front bumper but we'll see on that one..

Hoping to get all the bits together in the next week and get her back on the road in the next week or two dependent on time as busy with work and getting mates to help out where they can, cheers to Andrei already for help yesterday at the breakers as I have hurt my back and was struggling to walk yesterday let alone hump around car doors but needs must.

Just a matter of time now so watch this space for the rebuild....Oh and pics!!

Glad to hear you got to keep the Cav Mike and get some money out of the insurance people - they can be 'awkward' at the best of times.
Well done for tracking down the parts too, you got lucky with the colour! Was it a Diplomat?
Give me a buzz if you need some help.

Cheers mate :thumb

And no it was an "Expression" or something low spec, if it was a Diplomat I would of been after the interior too!!

Just got lucky it was the same colour as spraying would of been a cost I could not afford at the moment but insurance left me with nearly £300 payout which is plenty to put her back to pre accident condition but will be rated a Cat-C write off so worth even less but hey its my baby and now even less reason to sell it on so guess she'll be around for some time yet..

No not really, was pretty basic level mate so didn't bother tbh...

Hayward691 wrote:Need to get to a scrappy... See any Passats there and any 'entry fee'?

Didn't see any but give them a bell, no entry fee...

**

Been looking up fitting depths etc for my speakers and may just clear, only just though but main thing is to get the car secure as has no drivers side window and even at work its not 100% safe plus insurance cover is on hold so if something happened to it then it comes from my pocket..

Mods can come once she is road worthy again which needs to be asap but with my fkd back and lack of time around work its going to be tricky but will get done in next week or two max I hope..

Wooooooo Hooooooo

Cavalier comes home tomorrow (Thursday)

Can't wait to have her back, after driving a soulless Ford Fiesta with its electric steering then my cr*ppy Citroen Nemo works van for a week inc a near 90 mile round trip in it to get parts for the Cav its served its purpose..

So got the doors, a wing in the post now and just got home to my new Smoked Repeaters and a new Gmax shock for the O/s as think the old one will be screwed and didn't want to risk re-using it tbh..

Also just arranged with one of my "SPL" mates to build me a box to suit the 2 x 12" subs in the boot this time and hopefully crack my record as he also owns the Db meters etc we need to set it up, my car never will be chavvy but it is to my taste and no one elses..

Did I say Im kinda excited to be getting her back

Hmmm ok, so what were you running Chris?

I will have Vibe Black Air 6" in the front doors with Magnat Bulldogs in the back and 2 x 12" Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 which will have about 350rms into each so should drop well enough, it was loud with one of the 12's in it but with 2 it should be deadly especially with Spl specific front end set up too..

Oh yeah the car...

She is back, the muppets who delivered it left it in my work (a multi-storey carpark) with the keys in it after they phoned me at 06:30am this morning asking where I was!!

Fortunately she was still there when I got to work but they had managed to deliver it on a flat tyre which I suspect will now need replacing as it looks bulged to me, otherwise everything where it was / should be..

Will get some pics sunday when we start work on re-building her..

For fudge SAKE, how do these people still have a job doing what they do???? I'd have them sacked for lacking complete customer service AND negligent damage to your vehicle.....

Unfortunatly... They are paid to deliver it and thats about all they do...
Glad you got it back :)
Just finding out what im doing at the weekend re. helping :)

I was running a very poor system...
JVC 4x50w head unit
Standard front speakers
4 x 6x9 MOS 430w rms powered by 2 Fli 400w amps
2 x 12" Kenwood 300w rms Subs in Specific boxes (Apparently they were the boxes to give the best sound lol)
Powered by a kenwood 600w bridgable amp...
All uprated and proper valued wires...

Was an entry level install and never got finished :(
I swaped it around after and powered 2 6x9's using the Kewood amp and had each sub powered by its own Fli amp :)
was even louder then :)

Will be doing the Passat when moneys not so tight :)

Hey that's cool mate..

That wiring looks lethal though but sure it was fused up properly dude, one of the spl boys I know and infact the one who is building my box has 2 x 12" in his and just ran a 144db but unsure on power he is running tbh..

One of the lads has had 138 ish db off one 15" but is running 3.5k rms, epic system but absolutely mental and to much for day to day use.

Good to hear that you have your Cav back Mike, sounds like they were right muppets that delivered it back, annoying thing is that it didnt really need to go anywhere in the first place!

Look forward to seeing the rebuild.

Well, time for an update.....

Finally got all the bits together and a couple of mates over to help with rebuilding the Cav, bit of a 'mare at times but we got there, she is still going to need some further work doing in coming weeks or months as its been a bit of a step backwards..

Still know especially after we got to work I wasn't in the wrong bar pulling out the bike was 100% definately speeding with the level of the damage to the hub, leg and shock absorber..

Will let the pics speak for themselves but some stuff just wouldn't show up right on the pics, the hub was like a record as it span being badly contorted and although the leg looked ok ish the shock had damaged its seals, slightly bent its control rod and lost all its pressure..

Just booked the Mot this morning for tomorrow (Tuesday) and explained to the garage the situation with the car so they have agreed to Mot it and Re-Track the steering as it is miles out of line at the moment but hoping once this is done I can get on with finishing off other bits I had started prior to the accident

Looks like you had a ball :P
Shame the door strips are different...
Did you swap the glass in the rear door or just keep what was in it... Just ask due to window etching... lol

Other than that... Good colour match and looks good :)

Just hope they dont find more on the MOT and it sails through all the tests :)

With regard to window etching, none of my 3 Cavaliers that I've owned have had the same registration number in the windows..... 22 years of wannabe chav thieves, prangs, accidents and other shit really makes it difficult to find original windows in cars...
