Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
my dad tried his hand at hydro dipping for the first time, I had a spare set of interior door cappings, and he decided to have a go at them
not to bad for a beginner, and that's with only the first coat of clear laquer, another couple of coats to go and it should look ok.if they come out ok I will let him do a few interior dashboard part

Excuse my ignorance but what is hydro dipping & how does it work ?
Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
go onto you tube and type in hydro dipping, and there a few tutorials on there, it better than trying to explain.iangsi wrote:Excuse my ignorance but what is hydro dipping & how does it work ?

Carbon door caps FTW. I have some genuine carbon-fibre parts here, bought them years ago, never did get around to fitting them. Can't beat a good bit o' carbon.
Tidy car. Still think it was a mistake to ditch the Vectra rims, but I'm probably wrong if the ride of your car has been vastly improved!

I am keeping the Vectra wheels, and fit them for shows and meets etc, but for every day driving the turbo alloys will be on, it only takes 10 mins to change them over. Ads

Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
Black faces with orange needles. OEM+! Are they mechanical or electric gauges? I have mechanical Graham Goode Cossie gauges to go in my car. Not quite sure how I'm gonna plumb 'em in yet...
Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
they are electrical VDO gauges, so oil pressure should work from the sender I have in that worked the gauge that I'm taking out, I also have a facia plate to go in where the top vent is now, it has the hazard warning switch in the middle, fuel level and water temp will be going into that.humbucker wrote:Black faces with orange needles. Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
Been doing a bit to the cav over the last couple of weekends, removed the g28 turbo and Nissan sx manifold
re fitted standard kkk16 turbo and manifold, with a new DSOP style downpipe
Also bought a set of 17" omega elite wheels, new tyres have been fitted, and these are away being refurbed
these are the only wheels I will take my standards off for, I have always liked them.

I painted mine with black Hammerite and it all (correction: quite a bit) just chipped off!
From what you see many folk go around with nice paintwork on top but you can see the brown stuff clearly on the chassis below. Never could understand why.
