A french driving a Cavalier
Hi all!
My name is Florent, I am 24 and I have recently bought an Opel Vectra 2000i 16v of 1990 (might be the same as the Vauxhall Cavalier mk3 GSI 2000 but I do not have a turbo).
I bought the car to its' first owner! It as 205000km and is perfect (i'll post some pictures after). He was a bit maniac! He had never drive under rain or snow, the car was stored in a heated garage (it mean no rust and all the joint are perfect).
I also have all the original documentation and the car is the same as the beginning.
The engine is the C20XE (150 Hp) and it is a 2WD.
I've joined the forum to share with you what I know and anything I do on my car!
See you on the forum =) !

Hello & Welcome . Your car is the same as our GSI2000, but ours do not have the digital dash yours has.

It would be hard to find the exact figures, but the C20XE equipped cars were made between 1992-1994 so that would limit the figures.Flotte wrote:Thank you, I'll do more pictures soon!

Thanks !
I have received today my new radiator and the tank for the coolant liquid. I would like to change the hoses and found SAMCO kits but not sure if they are the right ones for my car and they are really expensives!
Do you know other brand that could be less expensive?
Thank you!

Hi Flotte, lovely car!
Roose Motorsport hoses are the best quality silicone hoses that I have come across. I have silicone hoses from other manufacturers on my other cars, but have always used Roose on my Cavaliers. The quality of materials used and ease of fitment is second to none, and Roose has much more of a comprehensive selection of hoses for our cars than any other manufacturer. I would recommend them over all other brands.

Hi Flotte sounds like a great car you have there, can't wait to see the pictures of it!
Re: A french driving a Cavalier
Hi,
I haven't post anything since a while!
Here is a picture of my engine now:
What I have done since the last time:
- new ignition system (spark plus, wires, distributor cap, ignition coil, battery)
- timing belt and water pump
- radiator, expansion tank
- coolant temperature sensor
Next step will be a new microchip and then the full suspension system.
Everything is working well except that I have a problem at 2000 tr/min since I have changed the timing belt. The engine is not working well at this frequency and I don't know why.
I still don't have pictures of the exterior, I will do some soon.
