Biggest safe drop with stock shocks?

Post by VectraGoVroom »

I'm finally saving for a lowering kit for Veccy. I'm assuming 40mm is a safe drop with the stock shocks, but will 50mm be too much? If anyone has a pic of a Cav on 16s dropped 40mm, I'd appreciate it.
Call them Cavs, but mine's a Veccy. <3

I think it's an unwritten law that 40mm is the maximum you can go on standard shocks.

To be honest, any amount that you lower will reduce the life of standard shock absorbers.
I'd recommend getting some uprated gas shocks if you can, they alone will improve the handling.
Noting too fancy, a set of Bilstein B4 or even standard gas Monroe shocks will help greatly.

I use a set of Bilstein B4s all round on mine with 40 / 30mm lowered spax springs.

They are a "standard lowered" set up sold by Demon Tweaks.

I remember Gaz tried experimenting a few years ago - he ended up scraping his sump on his drive because he went too low.
