PostImage hosting -

Post by ilovedmymantas »

I've just given myself a quick lesson on screen-grabbing so apologies for the huge windows, here goes!

Sign-up to PostImage for free, don't worry, the ads go when you register.
Once signed in you're here;

Image

click on choose images for this;

Image

You'll then get here if you select one pic, yes I've started using thumbs - learning all the time!
Click the save button at the end of the row, thumbnail for forums as above, or hotlink for forums for full pics.

Image

Works the same for batch test (well two)!

Image

There seems to be a few ways of doing things so there may well be easier processes for more experienced users.
I'm quite impressed in the short time I've used it :thumb

I have found on the "mobile" version, it only allows me to upload one picture at a time. (I use an android phone)

But for me this is okay.
I can see it being a bit frustrating for some.

PC version is a lot more flexible and allows batch uploads. At least it does on Win 10.

Same as pc version, but there is no option to upload more than one image at a time.

So it can make uploading several images a slow and laborious job

Works for me though :)

I also use wifi due to potential data usage.
And for forum speed, I reduce my output image size to 480 x 640 pixels.

Hi

pic 3 as above.. click the chosen square button at end of the appropriate link (hotlinks or thumbnails for forums)- this copies the link.
then paste into your post

I've looked on the Google play store but can't find it?
Did a bit of a search - it's only Windows?

Yup - that appears to be working.

Just as a point of courtesy to postimages.
They do like you to mention them every now and then as a sort of thank-you for hosting your pictures.
So you may see a few of my posts mentioning them after the last image in any particular post.
(I don't think you need to go manic and mention them in every thread). :)

It is in the terms and conditions at sign up.

Not buried in the usual blurb.
I managed to read their statement when I signed up a few months ago.

I find it much easier than Photobucket, both in the app and online.

Postimages is an absolute joy compared to the hassles I used to have with P.B. :wall

Erm.....

there seems to be a little problem with postimage just now , they've changed address.
Hopefully it's just a hiccup

Any recently uploaded images will have the url suffix .cc, which works on the current set up.
Any earlier posts will have the .org suffix which does not work at present.

I have asked Humbucker if he can tweak the forum coding to automatically convert the phrases postimages.org to postimages.cc and also postimg.org to postimg.cc

Apparently it is a registry hitch, which they hope is just a temporary issue.
We shall see.

I tried to find a solution ; http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/postimage.org.html
That didn't work out ,way too advanced for me :(

A forum tweak would be great cos I haven't a clue!
I can't see many forum pics just now apart from your door mirror switch how2 with the new cc link.

I know Humbucker said he could do it for the photobucket work around...
Something to do with putting " ~original" in the coding.

So I am sure it would be moderately easy to do the word tweak that I have suggested.

I have looked at other forum packages like phpBB and Simple Machines, and they both report to have a tool package that allows this.
I just do not know where it is, nor have enough permissions / understanding to be able to do it myself.

I too hope it is a temporary situation, as it took me three months to convert my 500+ links from photobucket to Postimages.
I don't really want to do it all again.
Nightmare !!
