Re: Quiet
It's cold outside so everyone's hiding in their garages. And when it will become warmer they will present their projects.

Re: Quiet
I was on holiday with my girlfriend for a week.
Just got back.
Just got back.
Re: Quiet
Tobias touched upon it.
For most people it is too cold, wet and windy for working on cars.
Then there is the added hassle of the post-Christmas lack of play money.
I have been popping in every day, usually 3 or 4 times per day.
My WIP is on hold pending nicer (warm) weather, longer daylight hours and a healthier bank balance.
Since doing the clutch cable, I have just been driving the Cav for work.
Thankfully, no desperate repair jobs at the moment
But as usual, the list of "to do's" is growing steadily.

Hi all, thought id pop in and say hi
the reason the site is ruined is its not as easy for people to use, cavmk3oc was much better.
I could use it with ease via tapatalk and upload pictures easy. here is a total headache.
Troy is doing alright lol now have a garage in Oldham working none stop on everyone else's rather than my own

Yes it's still a junk yard! Only 1 Capri in here now and a Citroen dyane. Slowly working my way through. Cav is Sat at the back being patient. I have a classic mini to do for my lovely lady first!
Re: Quiet
In response to Troy's comment that the site has been ruined due to Tapatalk no longer being supported -
Many sites do not use Tapatalk, as the app allows very easy access for spam and malicious hacking.
As for uploading pictures - again most sites require you to use a picture hosting site, and then provide links in your post.
So for the most part, this site is no more ruined than most others.
As many people have said in the past, the primary causes are:-
1 - ever reducing Cavalier population.
2 - a lot of younger folk use facebook, and many older folk do not bother much with internet forums.
3 - times and people move on. Other responsibilities or other vehicles.
Particular quietness at this point is due to poor weather and even poorer bank balances so soon after Christmas.
None of the people that Troy used to banter with are here any more.
(Gaz, Squig, TurboDan, Dan Richards and EnvoyCDX to name a few).
Only myself and Andrei along with the odd few others remain from 'the old days'.
Less incentive to visit when your friends have left.
Many other sites have long since collapsed and faded...
MigWeb, CavWeb, Cavalier Crazy are prime examples.

Re: Quiet
I’ve not used cavaliers for a good number of years, now - more then 10yrs or more. I remember , everyone had one, even the taxi drivers.
But with current times peeps just need something more reliable for the family.... I switched to Audi
Everyone’s moved on and it’s not easy looking after an old car, unless you have time, money and a lot of effort.
A few years back after seeing a few cavaliers I picked up a few... well one too many gsi’s. All gone to new happy owners - all needing a mixture of work.
I do remember a few people, namely AndyK back in the days.... I think migweb
Its pretty rare to see any cavaliers or other 90s cars. Most are hibernating in the garage during winter and only come out for short periods.
So ultimately coming back to the topic,.... it’s going to become quieter before it picks up for the summer period. But yes the numbers are going down, although there’s a bit of a revival at the moment.
But as mentioned, not many people left with the old cars.... sad times.

Re: Quiet
Do you live in one of those country mansions that appear on those documentaries about Britain's most prestigious estate mansions in the middle of nowhere?

Re: Quiet
All 5 of my cavaliers are taxed, insured and MOTed all year round.
Still use them as daily drivers.
My dad has just retired so far fewer miles are being driven at the moment but last year the CD manual did 17,000 miles without any trouble.
I did around 8,000 in the Diplomat.
If they are treated properly then they are still perfectly capable.
Yes they are more expensive to maintain than a modern car but they are far easier than most cars their age or older.

It's OK thanks. It's a bit down on power for some reason. That's my next job.chrisash86 wrote:How's the V6 James?

It's a joint effort between me and my father.
Up until the begging of last year I only had a part time job and he worked full time.
Now he's retired and I'm working a full time job so I don't have as much time as I used to but we manage between us.
It's not that difficult, it just requires dedication.
Re: Quiet
One cavalier takes dedication.
Five hint at a clear case of masicism.
I am sure it is nice to have a choice...
Hmm, what do I fancy today?
1.6 or V6?...Diplomat or CD?
Oooh choices, choices.
On the whole our Cav is much more needy than our 12 year old Vectra, but the parts are much cheaper.
And repairs when needed are much simpler. (Less technical).
The Vectra is a much plusher and comfier car to sit in though.

Re: Quiet
Same old reasons for me, lack of time ad nothing new really to talk about Cav wise. I got bored of reading the same old questions too, and people not listening to what they are being told when they ask a question, it's tedious and frustrating.
Plus the fact my cav has been off the road for coming up 7 years now..

Re: Quiet
Part of the quietness could be that the questions have been answered before, and that visitors / readers are actually using the search function and finding the answers that they want.Envoy CDX wrote:I got bored of reading the same old questions too, and people not listening to what they are being told when they ask a question, it's tedious and frustrating.
They only need to post if they cannot find the answers.
As for people not listening...
Yes there was a lot of that a couple of years ago. Thankfully they appear to have found somewhere else to visit, ask silly questions and then disregard what they have been told.
Not having the time is also a situation being experienced by more people each day. Too many other demands and responsibilities eating into your time.
