thanks i will try that,,one thing which does come to mind is that the speedo cable has popped out of the back of the clocks and theres a code on the gm multitec list which says something about no speed signal,is it likely to be that as both problems happend at the same time.i cant see it my self but who knows? :wall

Vaccum hose has perished more likely on that.

sounds like it could be breather or vacuum hose. Any hissing from anywhere in the engine bay?

i had nearly the same prob with my cav. the e.m light used to come on occasionly but one day it would come on after it had been sat on idle and then it would run like shite and hold back. cleaned out the stepper motor, replaced the cork gasket and fitted a new lamba sensor. fine ever since :cool

YEAH,AM THINKING ALOMG THE SAME LINES MYSELF..THE GREEN WIRE TO THE LAMBA WAS MELTED WERE IT WAS TOUCHING ONE OF THE RAD HOSES.I CUT OUT THE BAD SECTION AND REJOINED IT BUT STILL NO JOY..I CAN HEAR A TICKING NOISE FROM UNDER THE CARB BUT NO AIR LEAKS... :wall

Take the battery off for an hour see if that helps.
If you've joined up some new wire for the lambda - did you twist it in and solder or just crimp? is it a secure connection?

i striped the wire, twised the joined with a chocky block...eml seems to come on when car gets warm.however the car does get rather warm 3\4 the way up the gauge quite quickly.not sure if the thermostat is working so will remove to see what happens. :wall

Heat might interfere with the chocky block - better to solder and insulate.

RIGHT THEN!!!!!!!!fixed the dash lights, tickover slightly better, just need new thermostat and speedo cable..ive had the clocks out 3 times now due to fitting led bulbs and now i can remove the clocks in under 5 mins (good or what).got a new cav coming (cdx td),so its now up or sale but not on the 16inch wheels.taxed and tested end of july...very good bodywork, recaros, elec sunroof, elect windows, sri spotlights, white clocks, rear headrests, drives well..any takers for £450..well worth it for one of these.
