Yet another Newbie. :-)
Hi there from the Deep South of Hampshire.....
Learned to drive and passed my test in a 1964 Vauxhall Victor.
Later on I had a 1973 Viva estate.
Then progressed on to Cavaliers.
Have owned several Mark 1 Cavaliers in my time - my fave being a jade green coupe. Tough as old boots he was... he had a habit of popping off a heater hose whenever he was driven for long over 70 mph, so I cooked his engine a few times, but he just kept going!
Have had a Frontera for a while, but was disappointed with the build quality... and i think that goes for a lot of modern cars, sadly, so have decided to go back to the days of good quality build and reliability, with a 1994 Cavalier Mrk 3 LS TD. Haven't got it home yet, so haven't had a chance to test it out, but I am very pleased with my purchase, as i am sure it will be a trusty steed for a few years.

Thanks for the welcome, people. Looking forward to getting to know you.
Cavalier 342 (Andrei), on the subject of looking after my Cav, have been onto eBay looking for a Haynes manual... but not so easy when you have an Isuzu diesel under the bonnet. Should I be looking for the workshop manual of something else? (With the Frontera I had to look for a Vectra diesel engine manual).

Re: Yet another Newbie. :-)
I understand, the petrols and diesels have different manuals. Bit stupid but i expect they chose to separate the info. I'd keep trying ebay and other places for now, i'll spend a few minutes digging around, see if i can pick one out. I think the Astra Mk3s shared the same diesel block as the Cavs, maybe worth looking there.

Re: Yet another Newbie. :-)
Here you go, i looked around and this is what i found directly from the Haynes website.
http://www.haynes.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stor ... y_rn=14542
I think from what i found is that the actual diesel engine itself has it's own manual. It covers the 1.5 1.6 and 1.7 engines apparently. So it covers the Cav You may find it cheaper in other places but this is the first one i came across. I hope it helps.

Re: Yet another Newbie. :-)
Thanks for that, Andrei. Most kind of you to look that up for me. And i guess one for the petrol engines would cover everything else, like bodywork, running gear, etc?

Re: Yet another Newbie. :-)
The Cavalier Haynes manual covers just about everything, including a wiring diagram, specifications, and most general service, repair and replacement guides, step-by-step. Bodywork wise, it doesn't cover in detail, i'm assuming you mean respraying and filling holes etc. But mechanical and electrical parts it sure does.
You are most welcome.

hey vauxhall girl, welcome to the club! hope you find the how2s of interest look forward to pics of your wheels
Re: Yet another Newbie. :-)
Glad you received the pdf okay.
The upside to having it in electronic format, is that you can zoom in a bit closer.
Especially useful on the wiring diagrams
Enjoy !!

If i have done this right, this is my Cav. He is a little rough around the edges, but will smarten him up in time.

Re: Yet another Newbie. :-)
That is a very tidy looking Cav I have noticed the minor dent in the front nearside door, but it still looks a tidy shell. Love the colour. Colour-code the mirrors and shine those tires up I envy your side repeaters too, i want to get some clear ones for my Cav
Looking forward to seeing some spruced up pics later
Good job.

I hasten to add i didn't put that dent there... was already there when i bought him.
The rear arches are rust free though, which I am very pleased about.
