If you had to get rid of your Cav..

Post by Martin_TD »

Which car would you get? (Another Cav aint an option :))

My gf has just been moaning at me as I'm "forever throwing money" at the car :S and thinks we should get a new one.

Obviously it's not gonna happen, I'd get rid of her (the mother of my son) before my cav   ... kinda serious (I'd never part with either of them)

So the question being what car would you get and the age has to be atleast 2000.

If you're interested when I asked her what she wanted to get "I dunno" was her answer.

[rant]I'd love to buy a car at 3/4 years old and keep it (like my dad done with the cav) but new cars are just pish and annoying to look at the only thing that changes on new cars are the badge.[/rant]

Had the same arguement time and time again with my missus and cos she looks after the bills i don't have a clue what money we have but when she does mention the “throwing money at the cav“ and get a new cat i just say that we will only be taking on another money pit cos I've had my cav 2.5 years now and i know what work has been done and to what standard and i know what needs or will be needing to be done but by getting a new car it will always have hidden problems unless you get a brand new never been on the road ‘car‘ and i say ‘car‘ like that cos these vehicles are getting to the stage where you don't go for a drive for fun you can damn near get in an state where you want to be and the thing will do it for you. i drive my cav to and from work most of the time but i can still have fun doing so.
to answer the question of what car i would get to replace her... ...erm if the cav was beyond repair then i would jump back into my astra if that wasn't possible then it would be a defender 90 with all the mandatory mods of jacked susspension snorkel etc etc

Completely different for a Vauxhall nut but I would have a Mazda 6 Sport as borrowed one at work a few months back and they not only shift but are sooooo comfortable.

Miss having the power not got a shitty 1.6 Peugeot Expert Van.. :tdown

Always love finishing work though and jumping back into the Cav, best car I have had in years despite all the money it has cost me!!
Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...

The car I have always wanted (apart from a cavalier) is a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus from early eighties. Wanted one when I was young but insurance costs and the purchasing costs were way over my budget.......but you never know.......closest I have got is pictures and classic car shows.

I would try and get hold of a nice 3 door Mk1 Golf, doesn't have to be a G.T.I either, a 1.3 Driver would do, I really miss the one I had a few years ago.
