Exhausts and performance upgrades..
Not sure if this is the right area but will ask anyhow,
I have a 1.8 Cavalier, now I've noticed that the 1.8 Vectra seems to have a wider bore exhaust - this maybe due to it being a 16v engine - I'm not sure.
Does anyone have the details on the bore of the 1.8 Vectra exhaust and could it be tailored it fit the Cavalier do you think?
If so, do you think it would offer any performance increase?

Re: Exhausts and performance upgrades..
i was wanting to know the same as i like the look of the v6 exhaust
Re: Exhausts and performance upgrades..
the cavalier 2litre ecotec and v6 have the same exhaust from the cat back. guessin the 1.6 and 1.8's are smaller, The vectra one will be bigger than the cav one. Why not get a old cav SRi stainless system off ebay and get Powerflow to make it fit. at least all the bents will be in the right place. A vectra will me a night mare to fit.
Powerflow charged me £30 to make a coupler and fit a back box to my avensis, it took them 70mins so I cant complain.
Its on scotswood road.

Re: Exhausts and performance upgrades..
the vec and the 16v &v6 cavs use the same 2" bore
The 8v ones are smaller i think they are 1.75"

Ok, need to do some investigating.Gaz wrote:the vec and the 16v &v6 cavs use the same 2" bore

See I'm currently using the Front pipe and manifold off a C18NZ exhaust, and the centre pipe and rear box from a 2 litre SEH (pre-92 - so no Cat)
Granted I need to get the engine running steady before I do this, but I'm looking at avenues of opening up a bit more power if it's at all possible.

Don't think I could afford it, and I don't really want anything loud to be fair, if its quiet - will certainly have a look at it thoughGaz wrote:a mate of mine has/had a janspeed one, i'll see if he still has it.
Re: Exhausts and performance upgrades..
I have no idea how loud it is, as its the back of his garage doing nowt as it has been for the last 18 months or so

Right then G.
The only cav exhaust that is a wider bore than the SEH one you have is the ecotec/V6 one. This will fit straight on to the front box you have (instead of a cat). The only difference is the hangers for the backbox. There are 2 extra ones, but these just bolt onto the chassis leg, so you can easily get them from a scrapper Eco or v6.
Here is the SEH system you have now:
Here is the V6 one:
as you can see the flange onto the cat/front silencer is the same, and it is a 5mm wider bore. The backbox hangers are in different locations.
I got a complete pattern centre section and backbox for my old V6 for about £40 from the local factors.

Re: Exhausts and performance upgrades..
cheers trav, I'd need to make up a box / pipe to suppliment for the cat, being that my front pipe used to have the cat on it - however, I do have the mk2 mainfold and downpipe... wonder if that'll free up the flow at all..
