Police harrasment?

Post by Adamw5433 »

Hello all.

As your mostly aware i live in County Durham (not that important)
When i finnished work last night / this morning (around 2AM), my normal routine is to drive 5 miles to the local 24hour tescos and back again (after buying something lol)

I've done this month in, month out for donkeys, with no problems.
But last night the local clio / saxo, prats where making alot of noise and 'burning rubber' in the car park.

I park at the other end of the car park, as i didn't want to be associated with them.
Went into tesco's bought a new wiper blade for the rear wiper, some bread and cheese (cheese on toast hmmmm)

Came out of tesco's to find the clio / saxo lot still screaming away in the corner of the car park (its a big car park).
Bear in mind theres about 20 of these clio / saxo lads in one corner and my Cavalier with 2 other parked cars in the other.

Walked round the corner to go back to my Cav, and seen it was surrounded by 2 pursuit cars and 4 cops.
Walked upto them and asked what the problem was, i was told that they 'suspect' the car may have been cuasing a public nuisance

So instead of losing my tempure (which i felt like doing) i answered all their questions politely. and let them look over the car, knowing it was all in order.
I was then given a verbal warning  that should the Cavalier be seen driving erratically, i'd be pulled and the Cavalier would be towed
(hmmmm ok.. so what about the clio / saxo lot clearly being a pest)

It normaly takes me 20 minutes or so to drive back home from tesco's.
Not tonight, almost an hour!
I left tescos and headed back onto the by-pass, when blow me down.
i was pulled with-in 1 mile of being on the by-pass.

P = Police
A = Adam (me)

P. "Morning son, we have reason to suspect that your front tyres are bald"
A. "i can asure there not officer"

P. "i'll be the judge of that, shall i?"
P. "Can you turn the ignition off and follow me to the police car"
A. Sigh

(can you prove that your insured ect... ect....)
Yes i can, with ease (keep a photo copy of motor insurance in the glove box)

P. "if you could just answer my colleges questions, i'll check your car.
Can i have the keys please sir?"
A. "yep"

(a number of question take place, i get breatherlized grrrr)

P. "ok sir, your front tyres are just legal i advise you get them changfed as soon as poss"
A. "your joking!?"
P. "does it look like i'm joking?"
A. "YES!, i can show the invoice for the new tyres and fitting for them not 48 hours ago"

P2. "i'll double check the tyre depth"
P1. ("mumbles something can't tell what")

P2. "ok sir, theres over 8mm of tread on your tyres all round"
(thinking to myself: Well i f*cking know that)

P2. "Your free to go sir"
(thank god for that)

(3 or 4 mins pass)
Blue lights in the rear view mirror.
keeping it short: I was doing 31 in a 30 zone. was given a warning and let go.

Anyone else had one of these nights?

lol

its generally the trouble makes causing the problems that get away scot free whilst everyone else is inocent gets pulled for no reason

When i got pulled over in my Cav Expression, according to them i had no insurance which i clearly did and i told them, do you really think ill be carrying my 2 year old daughter in the car with no insurance. Didnt help drawing attention to myself with a red neon behind the front grille though. What i really hated about when they pulled me though was that they were tailgating me (near enough bumper to bumper) for about 2 miles at 40 mph which was the speed limit whilst Hannah was in the car, so basically endangering me and my daughter

Aye, been there done that.
It's not fun. Took me advising that I'd be making a formal complaint and that I'd like badge numbers and names to go on the complaint before it eased off.

That sort of Harrasment is out of order. I dont seem to get any hassle these days but i think that is more to do with the fact i am practically 40 now. I think there is an issue with younger drivers getting unfairly picked on when there is no fault on them while they have you stopped giving you grief some family hack passes by (You know the sort 3 wheeltrims all odd Matt paint finish) which is more likely to have bald tyres dodgy brakes etc.

Fact - no matter how wrong the police are you will never get an apology, don't take it personally just shrug it off and carry on, ive found its a 50/50 mix between arsehole and good guys.

They've probably been told to clamp down on boy racers to try and push them out of the area. They cant identify what most cars are nevermind working out the difference between a young driver and a boy racer.

Ive been done twice for outrunning the police when i was just out having a blast on my own - they should give them something faster than a 1.4 astra.

im 18, and ive had the following cars:

1990 H-reg Cavalier 1.8 GL, with GSI kit, loud exhaust, tinted rear lights
1990 S-reg Vectra done up to look like a GSI one
1990 G-reg carlton (spent most of its time sideways)
1995 M-reg Cavalier V6 CDX
1995 M-reg Astra 1.6 16v GLS (blowing middle box + backbox, no wheel trims, dodgy paint work)
1991 J-reg Astra mk2 1.4 merit.

and ive never been pulled over in my life. even though, pretty much all of my cars would be what i would clasify as a 'pull car' for someone of my age in this area.

tell a lie, i was pulled over a few weeks ago in my cavy V6, because i accidently 'cut-up' a copper at a junction, even though he was about 6 car lengths away from me when i pulled out, but that was fine, he just radio'd in my licence number, n didnt do much else. didnt breatherlise me, or check my car over (thank god as a few days later i discovered i had a bald tyre on the front, which has now been changed).

im really suprised that i was never pulled over when i had the Carlton, but in saying that, no-one believes me when i say im 18 as i look older apparently as i have long hair, and i dont dress like im about to stab you and run off with your wallet, so i suppose that helps. not saying that you do Adam, but you know what i mean.

best bet really is, try to as polite as you can to the old bill if they pull you over, they normally let you off if you've done 'wrong' then.

and why is it that the old bill are always about down the country lanes you are driving home on, at 2am? you never see them any other time during the day, only when your in a hurry to get home because you're tired. its like they have nothing better to do, than pull you over for no real reason. my mate was pulled over because he happened to be out at 2am. i really hate 'routine stops' they do, just wasting peoples time. fair enough they sometimes find dodgy cars, but only pull a car over for a reason, if you suspect its dodgy, not just for the hell of it, like most of the time they seem to do in this area.

ive been flashed a few times by the plod (going the oposite way to me), to i presume to pull over, when going down A-roads at 2am, while doing 55-60 in a 60zone. thats what i like about owning a V6 and being on a pitchblack bit of road, drop it a few gears, boot it, and im long gone before they have a chance to turn around and catch up with me ;) especially in their 1.6 Astra panda cars.
my driveway's like a 1986 vauxhall forecourt lol (apart from my mk3 cav's!

I was pulled in my old fiesta @ 3am had just bought the car the day before so only had the little green slip for it - was rather infuriating trying to get it through to them that I'd bought the car, fairly and that it wasn't stolen...

Morons at times.

i can understand this too. my last experience with the local plod was while driving on a main town road where they drove past me and suddenly turned round and sat behind me in a bmw x5 pretty much tailgating for some period. they didnt pull me over but followed me for a good 2 miles and was almost as if they were purposely trying to shit me up and scare me into making a mistake giving them a reason to pull me. when i reached the traffic lights at the end of the road they pulled up at the line next to me and just drove off.

it's stories like this that think some of them are definitely power mad. Can't believe they never spoke to the idiots driving the saxo's and clio's (can well imagine what idiotic behaviour they were doing :no ). Just shrug it off Adam, put it down to ignorant coppers. though it must have p*ssed you off it would me.

I like taking the most random route I can then, when said dibble follows, pull over and get out of the car... really confuses them when they ask why, telling them I knew they were about to pull me and can I help with anything

Last time this happened was in the GTE and one dibble was trying desperately to regain the initiative asking the usual questions (whilst I had all my docs from a producer a week or so earlier, ha ha) and the other was unsuccessfully covering a massive grin whilst his colleague was made to look like a bit of a cock, as I produced every document he would have needed just before he could finish asking for it!

Ofcourse that can backfire on you later on, when said copper pulls you for something they'd normally not bother you for and throws a wobbly with you :wall :wall :wall been there...
