Re: WELCOME TO MY CAVALIER GSI
The cable tie shouldn't be visible? The idea is that you flip the boot inside out so the plastic frame is above the knob, then pull the cable tie to secure it to the lever from the inside, then pull the boot back down and fit the frame into the console.

Re: WELCOME TO MY CAVALIER GSI
It'll bunch up quite a lot chris, and takes a bit of fiddling to get it to sit nicely but it should pull in ok and leave you with the cable tie invisible if you persevere.

boot trim there would be evidence of repair. If it had been 4WD I'd have bought it all those years ago.

the car has been owned by a chap from glouster for about 15 years fella and and was his daily driver till the rear arches were replaced and then it got stored in his garage and only brought out in the summer when no rain about.. honestly this guy would have a fit knowing its been sitting out in the rain and cold!!sharkysam wrote:The reg started with H and ended HNM,small town in oxfordshire called Bicester.chrisvectra wrote:you sure fella?? where was that?? cos the guy i bought this off has owned it longer than thatsharkysam wrote:she = H885 HNM

Re: WELCOME TO MY CAVALIER GSI
had a play with the passenger window, stripping the door card off etc, the weather seal was intact which i was very surprised about, but the door speaker is goosed so need one of those and also a window module as the window will only go down and up in stages ..
also left it running for most of the day with the heaters on full blast and dried out the floor and also took the tax disc out for a refund and brought a excellent all weather breathable cover for it (expensive grrrr) and now waiting for the warmer weather i will have to keep an eye on the inside thou to make sure nothing goes mouldy, but i will be buying up some parts for it in the meantime

Chris, if you are storing you are storing your cav, do what i always do, put a couple of bowls of salt in the cav, one in the front and one in the back, the salt draws all the moistuire out of the air, and about once a week but the bowls of salt int the oven to dry them out, it works because the salt go lumpy and you can feel the dampness in it, Adschrisvectra wrote:had a play with the passenger window, stripping the door card off etc, the weather seal was intact which i was very surprised about, but the door speaker is goosed so need one of those and also a window module as the window will only go down and up in stages ..

Re: WELCOME TO MY CAVALIER GSI
Good idea, we had one of those portable dehumidifiers in the car last winter and it pulls a surprising amount of moisture from the air. No reason why salt wouldn't do the same.

Re: WELCOME TO MY CAVALIER GSI
Judging by the quantity of moisture in mine it's worth putting a couple in.

Re: WELCOME TO MY CAVALIER GSI
I bought one in the pound shop I think it was.. Seen them in tesco too. Fitted in the bit at the back of the console behind the handbrake. Basically the same though. You can buy them at most caravan accessory stores too.

Re: WELCOME TO MY CAVALIER GSI
just a couple of small bowls mate, and ordinary table salt will do, you will be suprised by tha amont of moisture the salt captures, and all you do is warm it in the oven and use again, , i do it every year, Adschrisvectra wrote:id never heard of salt fella i thought it was rice or something like that.. how big would these bowls have to be fella?Ads wrote:Chris, if you are storing you are storing your cav, do what i always do, put a couple of bowls of salt in the cav, one in the front and one in the back, the salt draws all the moistuire out of the air, and about once a week but the bowls of salt int the oven to dry them out, it works because the salt go lumpy and you can feel the dampness in it, Adschrisvectra wrote:had a play with the passenger window, stripping the door card off etc, the weather seal was intact which i was very surprised about, but the door speaker is goosed so need one of those and also a window module as the window will only go down and up in stages ..
