Hi

Post by cavchris »

Hi, my name is Chris Pritchard, i'm 15 and i am from liverpool, at the moment i have my eye on a dark blue sri that is currently sitting in a farm near st helens, i'm not telling you all where it is, its MINE!!!

anyways, i will post some pics of it when i can, the only problems i can see from the outside are rust on the rear arches as always  and it has mold on the seats! i havent seen anything else cause i cant open the bonnet because its all locked, and for a start, its not mine!!

the car seems in fairly good nick, like i say, the main problems on the outside are a few patches or rust on the rear arches, a few spots near the sunroof, oh, and theres a small dint on the passenger side door, just below the handle!!

well, thats me, and hopefully my cav to be!!

hi, i used to live in seaforth, but moved to rainford a couple of years ago, i hate st helens so i am still from liverpool!! :D

may get a vid of the car before photos depending on wether i get a camera that works in time!
the car is half buried in a bush on a farm, so i can see most of it, just cant get around to all sides, think its from 1992, i'll get the numberplate written down next time i go see it!

hi chris .. hope it's a good 'un for you .

If you get the chance to drag it off the field have a good poke around the rear chassis and suspension for rot and if you think its too bad .... walk away.

Prob is with it been in a field, as well as mould inside there is a good chance there will be a lot of rusted up parts outside..

I hope not, but cavs are pretty much at there lowest prices right now and you could pick a belter up for a couple of hundred quid..

good luck!!

Hi mate, welcome to the forum

I would look further into that before committing to buy, its sat on grass so could well be rotten underneath although it would be a good way of learning to weld ;)

looks like a diamond black 2lt 8v model too (door badges flat, usually 8v, raised red badges 16v)

lmao at the last pic
As dave said, watch before you buy, last thing we all want is for you to have to spend shed loads on a rotten underneath, despite how tempting the car looks. if it is sound on the underside it looks like an excellent project for you, and another Cav saved from the dreaded scrap yard

yeah, its still a couple of years till i can drive anyway, so if there is work to do that will keep me busy, or i can drive next year if we move to australia, but the car is coming with us!! the only cav mk3 in Australia, that would be good.

a couple of things i definatley need to do:
i know the car has a rusted up exhaust pipe, probably up to the engine, and it has broken off the end, so that will need to be replaced for a start, i guess it will need a full engine rebuild, the seats will need to be dried out to kill off the mould, fill the dent on the passenger door, but there is a crease on the door, will that be able to be filled??
thinkin about paintin it white, i have a thing for white cavs! i'll see how the black turns out first though...
still, i guess it wont cost much to buy it, i think they'll be happy to see it gone, it has been there for at least three years.

i'm keeping optimistic,i need to get a weekend job to save up for it, and if my parents wont let me keep it in the garden, i'll pay the £15 a month to keep it in the lockups in litherland, home to my dads project cav, (i still dont know what happened to that!) my uncles numerous ford cortinas, capris, and a morris minor!
