This might be a silly question but how are we going to fix the show plates to our cars ? or simply put them on the dash.

I'm gonna bring some double-sided tape and just stick it over my current plate. You're welcome to pinch a bit if you want. :thumb Got enough for everyone.

That's assuming that the show plates haven't got pre-drilled holes in them. Besides my plates are stuck on anyway, so that'll be the only way.

I've found a load of fine elastic bands at work that I will bring along to just hook over your existing plates for those that don't want to stick them to their car.

I've just had a text from Barry Butler, the fella who owns that superb 24k mile GSi2000. Anyway, he will be at the Beaulieu event on Sunday and is keen to hook up with CavMk3OC members in attendance. Keep your eyes peeled, he's a top fella.

Looking forward to this day out -
Here at MIGWEB towers (AKA the South Central posse') we seem to be arranging a similar 10 car thing, so I will be there in either the DigiDashDippy or the shiny old Monaro, few GTE's and novas along side, an Insignia or 2 and my mates spanking fresh Vectra VXR, but also - stop press - Dans' brother is probably coming in his utterly mint std white 1.8 pov spec mk3 hatch on a M plate. now on about 23K IIRC. hope he makes it as it's so time warp it's silly.

Regarding fixing show plates - rubberbands are the usual option, I'm planning on bringing a packet of sticky velco and rubber bands for all to depending on preference.
The idea of the showplates is to put them over the front reg plates.

Good to see MIG boys will be there too :)

Now, I must get this inlet manifold back on the car...

Can't believe you lot are serious about rubber bands! I think they would spoil the look completely. double sided tape is the way to go :thumb

Looking forward to this despite the fact I have no car prep time thanks to the Mrs, will be up early Sunday and off to wax the car I suppose but will have my meguairs gear in the boot for anyone who wants a quick tidy up of their car on arrival, I charge reasonable rates for loan of bacon rolls..

Be good to see the MIG boys in attendance and of course Barry Butlers Cavalier as well, roll on Sunday and lets hope for decent weather as the forcast is sh*t..

Man, my old TD is going to stand out something rotten next to all these nicely done up wagons. Maybe I can claim I'm going for the 'street-rat look'? XD

(Or maybe set up a collection tin out front and see if anyone will throw something in for the restoration fund... )

Weather looks ok for Sunday. At the moment. I'm gonna have to be up stupidly early as well on Sunday as it looks like we're gonna have rain all day Saturday. Oh well, it's all for good cause :D

Mike, (cabletwicher), the amount of spares that I've got laying about, I can re-build the car for you!

All this talk of rubber bands and sticky backed plastic - I thought we were going to Beaulieu for Vauxhall Day, not a Blue Peter Convention !! - "Get down Shep."

See you at Cadnam, if I make the window, or at The Show.

Looking at the map, the pub is actually a really good place to meet beforehand, as from there it's only onto the A337 Lyndhurst Road, through Lyndhurst and straight onto Beaulieu Road, towards the final checkpoint.
