Eastern Region meet Sunday 25th August - Motor Museum Trip
Hey all. I was thinking that it's high time we had another Eastern region meet and thought I'd throw an idea or two out there.
Proposed date is Sunday 25th August, we could meet up somewhere near the A1, perhaps Baldock services (junction 10), then travel in convoy to the Lower Stondon Motor Museum in our shiny Cavaliers!
"This incredibly diverse collection of vehicles is housed across eight halls. The vehicles cover motor transport across the 20th Century (1900 to 1990's). Examples Include: Ford Pilots; police vehicles; AA and RAC Motorcycles; 6 Rolls Royces, including the owners favourite Cornishe; buses: fire engines; military vehicles and a huge collection of Motorbikes - Scott, Vincent, Greeves, ABC, Triumph's, BSA's etc."
They also have a few old Vauxhalls, including a resident Cavalier Mk3!
Furthermore, it's a private collection, and the guy who owns it all has built a TO SCALE replica of HMS Endeavour on the site, which is available for visitors to check out after they've exhausted the transport museum.
More info on all of that here: http://www.motor-museum.co.uk/index.php, and the post code of the museum is SG16 6JN for those wishing to check out rough distances involved.
Following a good wander about, we could go grab some food or a beverage somewhere as there are loads of places that we could venture to nearby.
I thought the location would suit many of us as it's dead easy to get to from Herts/Beds/Bucks/Cambs/London/Essex as well as a straightforward route from Norfolk/Lincs etc.
Entry to the motor museum is usually £7.50 and £3.50 for kids, but I can negotiate a club discount if there are enough of us.
***EDIT: CavMk3OC club discount has reduced entry fee for adults to £6***
So who fancies this one?!

I'd like to participate but it's a bit of a hop from the NORTH East and I've got designs on taking the Cav to the Pitlochry Highland Games around then .. If things change it's useful to know what's on.

Re: Eastern Region meet Sunday 25th August - Motor Museum Tr
If I can get my V6 hub sorted before then, I'll seriously consider it. Be nice to meet some other members on here like at Beaulieu.
For me it's only about 140 miles one way, M27, M3, M25 and M1 or A1. Would love to give the V6 a proper run!
I'll see how things go, and keep you posted on this. Is the date the only one available or are you just using it as a rough ballpark figure? I might have more chance of making it the following Sunday due to payday and road tax for my auto etc.
Andrei.

Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....

Looks pretty good and I would have been up for this had it not fallen on a Bank Holiday week-end. If Beaulieu is anything to go by, you are sure to have a great time.
