Afternoon folks...

Post by Turbodave »

Been floating around this site for a while but never actually bothered to register for some reason, so rather than lurk around in the background I thought it best to at least join up. Found the site ages ago, and been driving Mk3 Cavalier's since 1998 (24 and counting...) so not really sure why I haven't done this sooner?

Anyways, hullo etc etc...

Actually, I'm talking bxxxxcks... it's nearer 12, dunno where 24 came from? Must be that male thing, everything is bigger/faster/more than it actually is. Rather disappointed now...

Ok... back up here, it's not 12 as in "parked in the driveway" it's 12 as in "since 1998"

Fook that, nobody is that stupid... current tally sits at 1. Thats more than enough!

hi there fella :D
I had that dilema once bud... was given the ultimatum "if you get another one I swear you're on your own" It worked out well, what I saved on cinema tickets and fooking River Island paid for 8 tyres and two lots of tax... win/win situation.

Most I've had at the same time is two... Cavaliers that is, figured there's not enough Valium in the world to deal with anymore

Sorry arsed list as follows...

1991 GSi 2000
Bought when I was 18... put 18's on, dropped 70mm then it eventually was hit from behind and subsequently written off a few weeks before it was goning to have a LET put in it. Shame, it was a decent one but still bent it half with the impact.

1990 SRi 8v hatch
Aquired for running around in, didn't last long

1991 2.0L
The Supershed, as in THEEEE Supershed... actually had it twice, once years ago then Dougie had it then I got it back last year, ran it for a year clocking huge miles did track days and abused it before the rot finally claimed it. A sad day seeing it go. That car defied the laws of physics and mechanical ability.

1995 GLS 16v
Another runner, only cost £30 and I sold it for £750 after cleaning the idle air control valve

1995 GLS 16v
another random buy that spent most it's time chewing miles before I sold it

1993 turbo
Still have this, bought it when I was 20 by a sheer act of fate... could write a book about the past 7 years but there's not enough bandwidth to cope with that. I'll never be sold, probably kill me or at least be buried with me.

1995 1700TD
Yet another runner that also defied science by being able to swim, went great untill I got bored with 80bhpa nd replaced it with a Volvo S70R. As you do.

1992 2.0 4x4
Another unner, complete raft of shite but never mind

1995 1.8 LS
Barney, started off as a 1.8 untill an XE somehow fell into it. It was abused like a choirboy and still runs today all be it with a somewhat easier life. Shame.

1995 SRi 16v
Bought this and gave it to my sister when she was 17, ran it for two years then eventually broke it once it became to the point of no return so I broke it.

1995 SRi 16v
A clone of the above, went south to buy it and it wasn't very good. Sister ran it for a few weeks untill it developed a noise that I couldn tbe arsed investigating. Sold it, and its getting Saab power. Apparantly

1993 SRi 16v
Shiny top side and rotten as fook under it, only had it a few months after swapping it for a Supertourer Vectra. Wasn't as good as I thought so gave it to my sister, but then sold it again to get the turbo back out to play and gave her a Corsa 1.2 in a vain attempt to save her license.

Will get some pictures up another time...

Aye aye chief... aye, destinct lack of us on here it seems? But aye the turbo is continuing to battle on, few niggles as per usual and needs some TLC but its still being abused daily so the list can wait. Wasn't aware the SRi had gone, pity... dare I ask what it's been replaced with? Say a Mondeo diesel and I will hunt you down, in my Caddy van...

Aye... sort of. Thing was I had the S70R and saw a 95 SRi sat in a dealers, so I wandered in and asked how much? He said £250, so I bought it there and then without even getting in it... figured I could break it for more if it was a wreck. Thing is, it wasn't and it wa salso a 16v, and had a pink flip! So, I sussed I couldn't drive two so gave it to her (aged 17...!) and thatw as that really. It got 17's, lowered and ran for two years without a hiccup.

During that tiem I sold the Volvo and got a Vectra Supertourer, then swapped it for (what I thought...) was a mint 93 SRi 16v. One night we were all at my Grans, we left and headed up the motorway... wee while later a set of lighst had latched on, so I went for it and couldn't loose said lights. Ended up going down a slip road and being outbraked... by my sister in the ecowreck. Dunno who was more surprised, me at being beaten or her at being caught racing... and winning.

When her's gave up the ghost she wanted another so I bought the second white SRi but it wasn't a good one, so eventually I sold it and gave her the 93 16v (reluctantly) seeing as I had the turbo back on the road. She ran it for a month but was mental in it, so I took it back and replaced it with a 16v Corsa.... then sold the 93 SRi. There's now talk of me getting teh Corsa for work, and finding another SRi for her. So if anybody has one...

In a nutshell...

Aye glad they went to a good home, I think Cavaliers should come with organ donor cards... once one dies, it's parts go to to keep a few more on the road. Not sure why I haven't signed up before now, seems like a decent sight and a decent refuge away from them and their stereotypical jokes. Pretty sure after the second "taxi" or " rep" comment it gets boring!

Aye... saw it the other day and it looks a clean one, front bumper is a crime however! As for the turbo lights, fook knows where they are, I suspect in the back of the Corsa so next time I see it/my sister I'l have a rake about for them.
