My new ( to me ) cav saloon project
Ok were do i start
1995 1.7td Izuzu
bought this 2 weeks ago for £500
drove 3 miles an it died ( over heated )
so got it towed home ( an hour away )
an started the work
This was it the day i bought ( old owner gave it a wash )
i had bought a set of alloys, and when i got it home i fitted them
As the engine was neckered, we started about getting it ready to be lifted out
stripping began
And here we go
And a wee pic of myself in the thick of it
All interior now pulled out, bar the dash,
these were the old seats
but now have all been removed, my battery died on my phone out at the garage so got no pics of inside all cleared ready for inspection
cheers for looking, i'll update as i go along

Looks good. To be fair I think I prefer the previous wheels.. The white ones don't look right for some reason.
Good progress though, any major plans or just a restoration/tidy up?

Re: My new ( to me ) cav saloon project
so was out last night for a few hours
removed headlights, grille an indicators, rest of the interior, steering wheel, bottom section of the dash an all carpets
found a few plugs
this is headlight wiper an front fogs?
this is heated seat loom
an 2 plugs for each seat
so now i found them, is there any other wiring i need? how do i know wire in front fogs? i know i need the switch
few more pictures
Tea is always needed
As you can see, previous owner never cared for the car

Greig
More stripped today
Rear bumper off
Rear lights out
Tow bar removed
Full exhaust removed
I love cavaliers lol
Re: My new ( to me ) cav saloon project
Nice work, easier to strip em out to do the work and wish I had the time and space to do mine that way...
As for front fogs you need the switch for the dash, a fuse in plug 13 I think from memory and the relay, mine just has a wire across the ports instead of a relay but works fine...Just hope wiring is behind dash otherwise you have to run a wire down to the master block in the passenger footwall but as you have wires behind grill they should just go straight in...
Check out my wip if you need any advice on the fogs as me and a mate fitted them and had all kind of problems with them not working properly..

Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....

Re: My new ( to me ) cav saloon project
Been a quiet week, waiting on the chap to cut out the rot/rust/scabby bits an to weld in the new bit, i've bought a large sheet of metal so he can work away on his own
i've never tried welding so im of no use to him
im actually thinking now of painting the car, as its no engine, or interior is now the time to paint it? top of windscreen is a little rough so im thinking pull out the screen an get a paint job, maybe the same colour?
im wanting the car to look like a 4x4 turbo, so im thinking a turbo colour? or keep it the L72 colour it is now an just freshin it up a bit?

Re: My new ( to me ) cav saloon project
Did you mean 72L rather than L72? If it is 72L check out Humbuckers cav turbo they look good in the colour, so much so that I'm debating the kit for mine at some point later on.
