Cav GSi

Post by jamieGSi »

heres a few pics of ma cav gsi, had it a few months and its cost a fortune from day 1....all good now though

got it cheap from a mates brother in law as the head was cracked, replaced the head and all was good, drove it for a while then the mot was coming up, took it to a mates garage for a quick check over....then the nightmare began!!! got a call from him sayin "awright mate, you might wanna come see this" went to his garage and car was up on ramps and he had his wee toffee hammer in hand, needed some serious welding work done: both front inner arches, both sides of front floor, both sills, behind the sills, both sides of rear floor, rear chassis legs, things were loking bad

asked if it was fixable, he said "aye, anythings fixable"
asked if it was worth fixing, he said "na, its worth the 100 quid from the scrappies!"

well in that case....fix it!

2 weeks, 400 quid of welding, 2 tyres, a cv boot and a track rod end later it was mot'd and ready for the road.

ma tip for the day: dont buy an H reg cavalier in the dark!

Glad you saved it. A lot of the early cavs and some later ones are succumbing to that type of corrosion now and getting scrapped.
