Sluggish under load...

Post by Squig »

Decided to see if cleaning the filter had any effect this evening so Emma and I got to the usual quiet 60 road and stopped, set the timer and made the run... twice as the first 0-60 came out at 4.5 seconds which is impossible, nice but decidedly wrong.
On the second run the problems started, I have been a little suspect for a few days as she's felt a little down on power, not significantly just not as keen as usual.
I have been, as Gaz knows, running a consistent 7 sec 0-60 with the TC on... both the above runs have been with TC off (and yes Emma stopped the clock at an actual indicated 60mph not a wheel spin 60mph).
On the second run I fed in power allowing some clutch slip and in second dipped the power allowing the tyres to grip, I could feel the engine holding back through second once the tyres gripped resulting in 7.9 seconds.

I will be trying some Forte injector cleaner, remove and clean breathers and was wondering if anyone has any other suggestions?
I'm sure this wasn't clutch slip as the power "loss" (wrong word there as it's really quite mild) fluctuated.
:cheers

7.9 seconds and what engine is that?
my last car did 0-60 in 4.95 seconds and 1/4 mile in 13.4 seconds and produced 320 bhp (all proven nissan 200sx) so my old gsi2000 feels like a slugen though its a proven 183 bhp :cry

2.5 v6... usually a 7 sec car to see 60, no idea of power but I suspect over 180bhp and possibly similar torque. I also suspect I know the cause of the problem... some time in the past I believe the inlet temp sensor has been bypassed so the car consistently fuels as if air temp is constant hence when the ambient temp drops below this the car under fuels and runs lean... so plan is to remove this and see what happens... Hopefully she will still run
