bleeding? take cap off and swap locks, you sure its not the tensioner dying and not letting the pump work as it should?

no mate, it needed bleeding... exactly as you described  Now sorted but the timing is back out of wack... shes sluggish to rev and underpowered. Had a mate down this evening and after a damn good listen the pronounced issue lies with the rear bank being timed ever so slightly out. The current theory is that the skimming may have not been the first skim and hence causing a mild timing issue... basically you can take 8 thou off a head before it affects timing and having had 4 thou off this time it could now be perfectly timed and still be ever so slightly out...

So hoping tomorrow I can get the chap to bring his timing light and confirm the issue... at this point I'm still up for the NW meet on Sunday, but if still no joy... well it speaks for itself.

well it's possible but I doubt it... the timing is, if anything, less than a tooth out and wasn't revved high whilst testing. Worst case is the valves ar damaged and I have to use some of the 24 spare inlet or 24 spare exhaust valves  or I finish the mild port matching and polishing and fit the spare heads. As per the plan for them 4 months ago...

Hoping thou it's just a case of readjusting the tensioners

see was badly out of time friday... I'd cocked up. It's possible there is some slight valve damage but she sounds ok now so I'm going to be careful for a while although I may just stump up get some new stretch bolts and rip her all apart again...

Not strictly an update as such, more a little note to say my faith in my v6 is restored... and I had a fantastic drive to my parents today, out in the sticks. Trundled through light traffic onto the dual carriageway then opened the taps up to 70... put such a smile on my face again.
