Realised after 5pm I was out of oil so not quite finished yet, but as far as I can tell she's done... didn't make the tool myself but a local engineer did it for me... not that I couldn't but they have pillar drills which I don't so it was easier to pay someone this time.
The tool they made thou is obscene  two and a half foot of 10mm steel bar... you could lever the mini off the ground with it!

Gave her a quick clean today/yesterday took it nice and slow relaxing in the sun... photos have been taken on a camera phone so they look a little dull and not as sunny as it actually was... not been polished yet thou.

The tool you made is a bigger version of the one I made. It makes the job of doing the big crank a lot easyer. Your car is looking very good too :cool

Yeah Dan the cav lives again but needs the MOT (booked for this coming wednesday)... She looks good at a distance but up close there is about 5-7 small rust spots starting, so I need to break out the wet and dry and a small brush.

In all fairness overall she still a looker but there's a lot of stone chips and defects in the paint, the wheels need refurbishing and underneath she needs a damn good Waxoyl.
But first she has to pass the dreaded MOT... which I'm not actually dreading, as I can't find anything to indicate anything other than a pass.

If anyone wants one of those tools making I can get them made (and powdercoated a random colour for a little extra haven't done mine yet so no idea of additional costs but not expecting it to be a lot) for around £45 + p&p...

So longs as it looks good at a glance thats all that matters, I know my car has plenty of marks on it but so long as i know where they are then they don't bother me.

It's great when you can find a garage with testers that are happy to do that :)

Will do ilovemyelite... just let me polish her first

The big day was yesterday but wanted to do the advisories before announcing her road worthiness on here, and, advisories almost done, I'll announce my cav IS back on the road with fresh MOT pass sheet and all but one advisory sorted, and let's all face the fact that my sump nut washer leaks. I didn't look very hard but I couldn't find one... most of my time went on finding an o-ring big enough to replace the knackered one on the water pump.

Thanks Hairibo...

Anyhow... just needs to get the wheels lined up right now and she's back to 100%.

Point to note on the v6 and the associated ECU fault codes; 16 (indicating Knock sensor 1 no voltage) refers to the rear bank's knock sensor. Mine worked loose this morning and caused limp home mode... No great issue, but was a little confused as to which sensor was which.

So to clarify all knock sensor ECU fault codes refer to either knock sensor 1 which is always the rear bank and knock sensor 2 which is always the front bank. (info courtesy of Rock Garage in New Mills... great chaps)

Sorry... the reason is a smaller movement in the legs required to press the clutch which results in a quicker change when I need/want to... I feel comfier and drive better that close.
