Not at that price!

Post by carlos_canter »

As some people were wondering about model cavaliers, a whole load has appeared, well, 12 to be exact.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Cavalier ... 4aaaff72f7
£20 start, has scratched windscreen, paint defect and pictures show places upside down on a hard surface, amongst other faults. Also looks like a respray to me.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GAMA-1-43-Vauxhal ... 35b1f2945f
This bloke selling a few of these, but has high hopes! Never been out the box - bollocks - how the hell did it get the chipped mirror and looks like the door is ever so slightly creased - £29.99 - JOG ON

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GAMA-1-43-Vauxhal ... 35b1838a60
Same bloke again, he wants £35 or best offer, how about £5 cos its chipped like mad you crazy fool!

Hes selling 7 Gama Vectra A at stupid prices but only wants £8.99 for the rarer calibra.

Theres a couple on for £7.00 starts and thats the prices to be expected, up to around £10 for V good examples.

If i remember correctly, yours would of been ONYX ? They specialised in touring car models and fantastic detail on them.

Minichamps are a excellant brand, but not sure if they did a Cavalier.

£30 for 3, at the time that would of been a fair price but the rarity of the Cavalier now would of probably got £15 - £30 a piece, depending on condion.

Matchbox ones are quite rare now, but dont command much value, think theres 2 on ebay at the moment with a mint boxed one at a very cheap price!

One was brand new shell (BTCC one) and the other was a second hand damaged shell painted lime green so I bodged it back and made a replica of my CDX along with lip boot spoiler and alloys etc.

These are the people to talk to andrei, KAMTEC MODELS.

They do loads of shells for the Mardave Mini/V12 series from Robin Reliants to the Legend series.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RELIANT-ROBIN-bod ... 48380c4bb6

No suspension on these, simple plate chassis provides all the flex it needs, designed for "carpet racing" series and have foam tyres, hundreds of alloy parts if required and thanks to the VERY simple gearbox(well, no gearbox really!) they go like stink.

As the full scale banger racing has progressed onto Cavaliers, I dont think it will be long until they produce a Cavalier shell, they allready do a ford mondeo, mk3 granada's and mk6 fiesta's, they even started producing nissan bluebirds and jaguar sov's.

It wont be 1/24th, but there around 1/12th scale, so a fair size.

JUST SPOTTED THIS!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Opel-Calibra-body ... 2c52270dee

They also do this and the vauxhall nova in ABS and Lexan. ABS is the better buy as its so strong.

Ive E-mailed them and as of yet, no reply.

But hopefully, as more and more real Cavaliers are raced in the banger series, they will give in and produce a shell, i know id have a few off them.

Definitely. The only thing is though, if they do create a Cavalier shell, I wonder if it would be a bog standard shell or a turbo or a BTCC replica or such. I'd be after a standard shell so I can respray it in my choice of colour and make it look more like a display model. But it would be plastic though I suppose.

It should be a bog standard shell, either a saloon or hatchback, not many BTCC cars are used in banger racing.

Gamma and herpa both do hatchback models:

Image

Gamma are 1:43 scale while Herpa mainly produce for the model railway scale usually around 1:72 - 1:76

Image

Matchbox - Herpa - Gamma hatch and Gamma saloon
