Cavalier Turbo 4x4

Post by TheMorphiuz »

I totally forgot I was even signed up on here... May as well post up though.

Acquired this K-reg satin red example a few weeks ago:

Within hours of buying, on the stand at Castle Combe Action Day

Unfortunately, it had been showing some electrical issues for some time, drivers window not working, rev counter going nuts, other such silliness. Got a new alternator on it as the battery wasn't charging properly and soon after...

Image

Image

It started eventually, so I limped it to where I was going. The central locking was going nuts, the interior lights were flashing and apparently the indicators were randomly flashing...
So, LSI changed me top mounts...

Image

Almost losing a nut in the process...

Image

I lost my rag with the damned thing so this happened...

On arrival, straight off the trailer and...

No... It's not been stripped..... Yet!
Whole new dash and loom, engine loom, heater matrix, coolant flush and thermostat, sump gasket, front wishbones, accumulator bulb and associated pipework.
Also... The inner CV boots have gone, resulting in this:

When I get it back it'll still need tyres, inner CV boots and a gearbox/txb oil change but for now that's yer lot!

Well, hello Si - nice to see you've found your way over here :)

It'll come together nicely so long as Si and James don't decide the GTE needs a turbo conversion :p :D

 I think I'd notice if they gave it back sporting a nice C20XE..........

It'll all come together soon! I've been driving the 1.6 for the last couple of weeks... Never appreciated how incredibly slow they are until now..... :wall

Despite these issues it's still a decent base. Got a few plans for it when it comes back into my possession. A bit of tidying, wheel refurb and a genuine Turbo cloth interior. Leather's for gays! :ass

It will be on show at PVS!

Today's update...
Seriously, all this work has been done in a week, the car was delivered on Saturday lunchtime! :o
The new bulb just take out off its box

Image

Out with the old and on with the new one.

Image

The temp sensor had been cut and shut so we replaced that with a spare we had.

Image

We also changed the transfer box oil looked as though it had never been done lol..

Image

Image

This is how it looked yesterday.

Image

New Sump Gasket was put on today and oil filter looks a tad cleaner underneath now.

Image

Image

The down pipe o'ring looks like its seen better days so we have replaced that too..

Image

And as for your Header Tank could not be asked to clean it so ints now in the bin....

Image

Thats all the pics for now but you can take your own tommorrow.
Will get it back again tomorrow! :p :cheers 8-)

Yes, Astra Coupe Turbo ones... Need a refurb though.

Car's back home now, needs a new FPR but apart from that, lovely jubblie!
Will post new photos tomorrow, when my eyes are working. :?
